The United States Department of Education has awarded Title VI National Resource Center grants to international centers and programs within departments throughout  Duke University since 1973.   By definition, an NRC  is a competition and award-based grant that supports institutions of higher learning to fulfill their  ongoing mission of providing the best international area studies training for students within Arts & Sciences and the professional schools.   There are currently six funded NRC Centers at Duke:.

• Center for International Business Education & Research – CIBER
• Center for Latin American & Caribbean Studies
• Center for Slavic, Eurasian & East European Studies
• Duke Center for International Studies
• North Carolina Center for South Asia Studies
